    Description

This auction is for a Vintage Ramses Egyptian style powder jar.  The box is made of Green Satin glass in a hexagon shape tapering down to a three footed bottom.
    It
dates during the Art Deco period, 1925 to 1945. The
fitted lid has a feathered look and is topped with a lady head.  The jar has six side panels. Three panels are decorated with an embossed flower and three panels are decorated with a lovely embossed nude female figure with outstretched arms and draping.
The jar measures approximately 5-1/4" diameter on the long side and 4-5/8" on the short side.  It measures 2-1/2" to the top of bowl, 5-1/4" tall with the lid and finial.  The bottom has an embossed "RAMSES" mark.   This is a lovely green color, I show the lid under a black light in the 10th photo.  The lid has a chip on one corner, I show a closeup in the 11 photo.  I show the same chip when it is on the bowl in the 12th photo.
The powder jar was made by French
Parfumerie Ramses and imported to the USA by the Le Blume import company.
The Ramses Perfume Company came to be known for exquisite presentation as well as provocative fragrances.   Accomplished French sculptors like Clovis Viard would design the finest glass boxes and bottles for the company in the early 1920s and '30s.
