    Description

FEATURED:  A terrific example of Mid Century Modern textile art, by ROSS LITTELL, known for his 50's textile design work for Knoll, Herman Miller and sleek furniture for Laverne Originals during those fabulous early Mid Century design years. Stylized musical instruments, on a neutral pale beige linen, musical instruments we all love to hear, and help us to realize the instruments'  innate beauty and great design as well as sound.  Very iconic early MCM design and colors, sleek, sophisticated, so interesting and eye-catching.
ROSS LITTELL,  a graduate of Pratt Institute, a designer for Knoll, Herman Miller and Laverne Originals,  is also known for his own designs in Copenhagen and Italy, where he lived and worked for most of his life.  His work is in the permanent collection of MOMA, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Art Institute of Chicago, among others,  and both his textile designs, such as this, and his furniture, are highly  regarded and very collectible today. He was part of MOMA's  "Good Design" movement in the 50's, and with his partners William Katavolos and Douglas Kelley, won the American Society of Interior Designers Best Furniture Design award for their famous "T Chair" in 1952; they worked for Laverne Originals for 6 years and produced sleek, minimalist and fascinating furniture, household items and textiles during this  period. His designs, both in textiles and furniture, are highly collected and sought after today., such as this gorgeous wall hanging.
Measures:  18 inches X 45 inches, with original teak wood bars and plastic hanging thread.  Silkscreened onto beautiful fine-weave linen with selvage on both sides, by Ross Littell, probably during 1950's.  Some old very slight faint discolorations seen under certain lights but disappear under other lights.  No fading of images noted, no fabric condition issues other than already stated.  A striking and rare creative MCM design by one of the early Masters of the era, ready to hang today on your wall and enjoy for decades ahead.
