    In terms of background,
this is a Jean Cartier Artiste Eb soprano clarinet which we believe
was a 'stencil' name for instruments made by Dolnet Paris, c. 1930-1970, for the USA market.
In our opinion, the quality of this clarinet FAR exceeds the quality of similar clarinets, such as Selmer Signet, Leblanc Normandy 4, and Buffet-Crampon E11.
This clarinet features BEAUTIFUL, HIGH-QUALITY Grenadilla wood, and GREAT key action!!
Dolnet was a great French maker of clarinets and saxophones, who also produced instruments under the names Dolnet Lefèvre & Pigis, Mantes-la-Jolie, Dolnet & Lefèvre, Henri Dolnet, Mantes-la-Jolie.
The key work is in good order throughout. The pads are all sealing well, and all corks are also good. We have found this instrument to
play with a lovely, warm tone, even through the registers, and with consistent, solid intonation.
Includes original case (in very good condition), but no mouthpiece.
