"Radio Model" • SN# 20538 • Circa-1980
This incredible Buffet-Crampon "Radio Model" bass clarinet was manufactured in 1980 and is an incredible player, especially for the Radio Models. The difference between the Radio Model and their top-end professional lines is a variance in the register key mechanism & placement. The Radio Model has the upper register key on the body, whereas the top-end pro model has it on the neck.
The horn was just fully gone thru and brought up to professional playing condition - some new pads, new tenon cork(s), corks and felts. The instrument blows incredibly freely across the entire range of the instrument, including the frequently challenging Clarion register. As a professional woodwinds player (primarily saxophone with a strong double on bass clarinet), I can vouch for this horn. Out of the many, many Buffet & Selmer bass clarinets I've played over the decades, this one falls into the exceptional category, especially given that it's Buffet's entry level professional instrument of the era.
The horn comes with everything shown in the photos. If the buyer want for me to have the neck replated I can have that taken care of for an additional charge to be determined if requested. Case is in good condition. Comes with floor peg.
